Can anyone give some advice on above?

I will be developing a new site. Customer will prepare goods for shipment after order is processed by VPASP. Consignment number will be allocated to the customer order at this point.

How can I:
Update this consignment number with customer held in VPASP database?
Send an email informing customer of his allocated reference?
Have a link through to the Delivery Company tracking site for his order?

If you have the VP-ASP Option Package you can send logged messages to the customer using Order Tracking. So the first two portions of your requirements are handled. The customer will receive an e-mail and will be able to come back later if they forget and see the same message

You can add a new VP-ASP customer service menu to provide a link to whatever you want
