One of my clients got an update from USPS that the URL for USPS shipping APIs needs to change from http://production.shippingapis.com to https://secure.shippingapis.com. When I make this change, I get the following error:
API Authorization failure. Rate is not a valid API name for this protocol.
API Authorization failure. Rate is not a valid API name for this protocol.
Has anyone else received that email from USPS? Is there something else that needs to change besides the URL? Or is the rate lookup API not impacted by the change and I should just leave it alone?

Hi there,
You can download from: http://www.vpasp.com/sales/addons.asp
You will require a valid order number that is still within the 12 month licence period to be able to access the download center.
Thanks Cam

what happens after the 12 months from the original purchase elapses? the download area also includes things like the 6.09 bug fixes etc, so those would be needed regardless of when the original purchase was. so, I'm wondering what can people do who bought it over 12 months ago ? is there a paid equivalent of those free-downloads that can be used instead in situations like that?

Hi Simon,
We certainly do offer an upgrade path for customers using older versions of the software to obtain updated add-ons.
Existing customers can upgrade their licence to a further 12 month period at the following page: http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/vpasp600_planning.htm
We have a heavily discounted upgrade path for existing customers so this is a great option as you also get between 100 and 300 support to use in our help desk as well!
This upgrade path does not mean they have to upgrade their site, it simply extends the licence period plus provides access to not only our add-ons but also to the latest version of the VP-ASP software if they do decide they would like to upgrade their site at some point.
We cannot unfortunately offer free lifetime access to our add-ons as these integrate to 3rd party vendors who regularly change their specifications so we need to charge a small fee to off-set the work involved in ensuring our add-ons are always up to date.
We do offer our security updates free of charge for the lifetime that you use the product and these can be downlaoded from a separate section that allows downloads without the time restriction: http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/vpaspsupport.htm
Thanks Cam

Please help.

Hi there,
You are best contacting us directly through our help desk for queries such as these as we do not always check every post on the forum.
