Hello.
I want to know how other ASP developers are finding the locations of Sub and Function are used in ASP scripts of VP-ASP. I wish there is a list of which page that each Sub and Function are located. Sometimes it took me hours to just finding Sub or Function. Or is there any application that will find sub and function automatically while editing ASP scripts?

You can use Dreamweaver's site wide searching feature or we have a basic online search tool that locates all subs and the references throughout the site.

It is not complete as yet but when it is we will add it to our list of downloads.

Thank you

Hi,

I use Agent Ransack for finding anything I need in any file.

It works like a charm.

Do a google search and download it, it's free and worth the effort.

cheers

I use note tab light http://www.notetab.com/

You can load all your asp files then search them all for subs, variable or anything.

I wrote something in MS Access a bit ago that scans the folder (local drive) that the .mdb is located in for .asp scripts, searches for subroutines and functions, and loads the following info into an Access table: Filename, Line#, Type (S=Sub,F=Function), Parameter list.

You can then query the table for key words or see all of the routine names in a file at a glance. You can also click on the record to open the file for view. Could be modified to open it in an editor.

If there is interest I can clean it up a bit and make it available.

At one time VPASP support said there would be a place on their website to host 3rd party addons and such. Has that been done? If so, where?

For example, here's what the data looks like for the shoptax.asp file.

Filename Line Type Name Parameters
shoptax.asp - 2 - S - CalculateTax - subtotal,total,shippingcost,tax
shoptax.asp - 37 - S - TaxbyState - price,tax,taxdone
shoptax.asp - 67 - S - TaxbyCountry - price,tax,taxdone
shoptax.asp - 90 - S - TaxbyProduct - iprice,tax,taxdone
shoptax.asp - 127 - S - TaxforEU - taxprice,tax,taxdone
shoptax.asp - 154 - S - TaxCalculatenewsubtotal - newsubtotal
shoptax.asp - 205 - F - TaxFindProduct - productid,products,productcount
shoptax.asp - 220 - F - TaxFindProductDB - productid,taxDbc,taxfield

Hi Steven,

Thanks for posting!

You can send through your link and some blurb and we will add the details to the following page for you if you like:

http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/vpasp_bolt_ons.asp

We are still planning on building a customer exchange area so you can post your own tid bits but this needs to wit until we have the new version bedded down.

Thanks!
