I currently have a home page that I am working on that includes a form that allows the customer to enter relevant buyer information (basically, the "account information"), mail list approval, Quantity of my ONLY PRODUCT, Coupon Code, and an Order Now button. See link:
http://www.capminder.com/next/

I have a mockup of the page that I would like to use as the Product and Quantity posting (ie. ShopAddProduct), Customer Account Setup (ie. ShopCustomer), Coupon Calculation, and Checkout Page (ie. QuickbooksPgShopCeckout) to be combined into a single page. See link:
http://www.capminder.com/next/next.asp

Detailed ideas anyone?

My best regards...

Hi Geoffrey,

For the home page order form, you will need to have that form submit to a customized version of the shopcustomer.asp script that also incorporates functionality from the shopaddtocart.asp page.

Make sure you name the form fields on the homepage the same as they would be in VPASP's shopcustomer.asp page as this will make the customization efforts simpler.

Your customized page will need to detect that the customer has submitted the order from the home page and therefore run both the add to cart routine and the shopcustomer setup.

From this point, it can probably use the xbypasscreateorder functionality to go through to the shopcheckout page on which you again would need to customize to include the shopping cart summary details.

There's a fair amount of combining different pages to achieve the functionality you are after.

If you want an estimate for this customization, feel free to get in touch.

Michael, Good to hear from you again. Let's clearly define what the expected results would be and put an estimate together for the customization.

I would also like to inquire about this since my client would like the shipping, billing, coupon, payment, all on one page. Is there a setting in VPASP to do this, or does it require custom code?

Hi,

You can shorten the checkout to two pages - the customer details page and the payment details page by setting the configuration setting xbypasscreateorderpage to Yes in your admin. This removes the order confirmation step and may be enough to satisfy your client.

Shortening the checkout further would involve customization to achieve and is very dependent on a number of factors such as what taxes need to be charged, what shipping options you are offering, what discounts are to be applied, what payment gateway you use and so on. This becomes quite a complex customization requiring AJAX to make sure that all aspects of the order are correctly updated.

Feel free to contact us directly at http://creativechaos.com.au/contactus.htm if you would like to discuss the customization project further.

Cheers,
