In the database, Impressions columns are standard numbers (and default to zero for new products/categories/contents records)
Then, when an impression is processed, it sets it to zero first if the current value's null, then it adds one to the existing value in the database.
It doesn't reset them anywhere, but maybe there's some problem going on in the edit-product/category/content pages which is blanking them out when you save a change to the product/category/content; those edit pages are the only places I can see which could potentially blank them out or reset them inadvertantly if there's a server problem (such as european/lcid problems not processing numbers properly)
It should be incrementing it by 1 without resetting/looping; should cater for something like a trillion before it starts running into "int" database problems.
If it's an lcid problem, then editing a product and saving it will usually also do something weird with your prices (such as multiply them by 100), so that's also something to check to see if it's something like that.

Hello there,
This is a known issue which will be fixed in the upcoming version of the shopping cart.
In the mean time, please try the following fix :
1) Open the file shopa_addproduct.asp and locate the following code :
pupdatefield "impressions", strimpressions
2) Remove the code above and save the file.
This should resolve the issue. If you are still experiencing the same issue after the fix above, please submit a ticket to our helpdesk and our support member will assist you immediately.
Thank you.

I have put this in place. Good news is no resets... bad news is - it seems as though this was the piece of code that set the value of the impressions to zero from Null when you first create the record. This means when ever i make a product i must manually set the record to zero before it becomes an integer which can be incrimented.
is there more to this fix?
