Do any of you use 1and1 for hosting a vpasp site? If so are there any issues or concerns?

There would be 1,700 skus and not too many concurrent users

Which is preferred:
mysql on the hosting developer
or
sql server on the ms hosting developer

Thanks for any input

In the last few weeks we acquired a new client who is migrating off of 1and1 due to numerous issues.

Don't touch 1and1 with a barge pole!

1. Loads of down time (during working hours)
2. Appalling level of support (Indian call centre!)
3. Dedicated server wouldn't work with VPASP and no support
4. Numerous time outs and servers issues
5. Servers physically located in Germany so LCID settings will be incorrect with VPASP and price field will not work

All from our own bitter experience and we have moved to a different hosting company now.

Great... I just signed up with 1and1 prior to reading this. It's probably not too late to cancel. Any recommendations on a good host that works well with vpasp?

Alentus or GoDaddy

. . . and I'm sure there are some others.

Aren't VPASP offering hosting? Thought I saw it on the newsletter but cannot find it now on their site?

Anyone no?

We use UK 1and1 which may well be different to USA 1and1. At least with US 1and1 the datacentre is in the same country - no LCID issues.
