vpasp 7 running with SQL Server 2000 is painfully slow. A couple of 6.5 shopping carts on the same web server, using the same database server, run just fine.

Is vpasp 7 really slow, or is this unusual? If so, does upgrading to mssql 2005 really help? I saw some forum comments that indicate vpasp 7 had some problems with mssql 2005, too.

I acknowledge mssql 2000 is old and we will upgrade later this year, but in the meantime any suggestions?

On your /config/shop$config.asp and also /admin/config/shop$config.asp, make sure you set const xSQL05Above to No.

Also, make sure you are using the latest build as well.

Both config files already have const xSQL05Above="No"
This slowness has the feel of a timeout waiting to happen. I can hit the database directly with ADO and there is no latency.
