I'm adding the vpasp shopping cart to an existing site that has a full user base for users to log in and navigate the main site. I want them to be able to use the shopping cart, check out etc without having to log in again through a separate user account.

Has anyone integrated vpasp to integrate seamlessly with an existing site and an existing user base?

Thanks in advance.

I think VP-ASP just loads that stuff as session variables. So I bet you could mimic it by just figuring out what session variables are needed and load them with relevant data from your non VP-ASP cart upon login. Then set your cart to require login from the Settings menu. Therefore, the cart will be looking for those specific session variables to contain data, and you would already have it loaded.

diag_sessionlist.asp will be your friend during this research and coding process.

I have one client whose cart requires customer login to shop. I just checked the session variables and can see a few fields that I bet control access and about a dozen others like name and address that probably just get loaded for checkout purposes.

Hi,

I integrated VP-ASP into our existing website which is a trade only login site. We already had a fairly large registered customer base on the original site and I managed to add all our existing customers by creating an Xcel file of all our customers registered details, changed all the field headings to match the customers table in VP-ASP, created a .csv file of this data and used the Bulk Import facility to populate the customers table. When the new site was ready I bulk emailed all the customers asking them to login once to the upgraded site and that was it done. Most now choose the automatic login facility and are very happy with the improved website.
