I just noticed that my main pages dont produce any meta descriptions or meta keywords, only the product pages. How do I got about making sure that if no meta description or keywords is found by VPASP to use a default value? Thanks for your help.

the logic for it is all in the shopheaders.asp file.
SetupdynamicCategory
SetupdynamicProduct
SetupdynamicContent

it's those 3 functions that you'd tweak if you wanted to add default values when none are found.

If it's any help, we've got a keyword tools addon which allows you to use category level keywords, and to auto-populate your product keywords (and it defaults the meta-keywords on the customer/display pages too when they're missing, which is a handy little by-product of it) -

For the meta tags on the default.asp page, you will need to add 2 records in the into the configurations table - xdescription and xkeywords. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Log into VP-ASP admin
2. Go to Advanced->Edit Tables
3. Select "configuration" and click "Edit Table"
4. Click "Add a Record"
5. Enter the following (and leave the other fields blank):
fieldname = xdescription
fieldgroup = main
message = Default Description
fieldgroup2 = details
6. Click "Add a Record"
7. Click "Back to Configurations"

Repeat step 4-7 to add a record for xkeywords.

8. Go to Set-Up and click "Reload Shop Configuration"
9. Go to Set-Up->Merchant details
10. Set the values for those two fields
11. Click "Continue" to save the changes

You should now have the values for your keywords and description meta tags.
