Hey everyone, I found a solution to all the session variable problems if your using 6.09.

If you host you own domain controller in my case sbs2003, you are required to setup a certificate using the server full internet name. Meaning you domain is www.mydomain.com and full intenet name is server.mydomain.com. Since my server is the also the CA for my domain for other services on the network i played around with the certificate to work so you do not loose session variable while your customer is finishing checkout, usually at the credit card part.

Heres what you do:

1). In products2 find the line that says XMYCART. Put here the full internet name without https://. Meaning xmycart: http://server.mydomain.com.

What will happen when your customer logs in and puts an item into the cart it will redirect to http://server.mydomain.com.

2). Now go the payments in the admin sections. Look for the XSSL. Enter your full internet name with https://. Meaning xssl: https://server.mydomain.com.

Now what happens as you customer comes up to the credit section of the checkout process they will be directed into https://server.mydomain.com from http://server.mydomain.com without loosing session variable as the data is in the database already.

Well this worked for me and you can try as well. If you have any questions please contact me at here

Hi there,

For those who are not hosting their own server please see the following FAQ on how to avoid session issues with 6.00 and earlier.

https://www.vpasp.com/helpnotes/shopexd.asp?id=849#849

This allows you to use the xmysite variable so no matter what url customers use to access your site they will always check out using the domain that matches your ssl certificate url.

This feature is now built into VPASP 650 so all you need to do is to update the xmysite and xssl settings in the shop$config.asp file and you will not have session issues if using different domains.

Hope this helps

Thanks
Cam
