vs. 6.08
I changed the VPASP logo to my own, this caused the horizontal navigation bar to quit/flicker.
In the VPASP helpnotes, there are step-by-step instructions.
Following the instructions, there is reference made in the first paragraph to "shopa_menucreate.asp" - as far as I can tell, this file does not exist.
In the step-by-step instructions, it says to go to shopa_navigation_create.asp and change the xborder to 10. I did all steps to step 10. There is no border as shown in helpnotes. Matter of fact, I deleted shopa_navigation_create.asp and it had no effect.
Any suggestions? Is this help file inaccurate? |

Have you made sure that when you change xborder to 1, you log into your administration and Reload the Menu. See steps 5 - 8 at - http://www.vpasp.com/helpnotes/shoptocdetail.asp?id=13#822
and refresh the page. The borders should show up. I had the same problem, but I forgot to Reload the Menu. After I reloaded the menu I could see the border perfectly.
Hope this helps you a bit

Hi Constantine,
Thanks for trying. I followed the steps, it's fairly straight-foreward what is suppose to happen by changing the parameters. Even changing the xtopcloser and xbottomcloser (default are 80 and 118) had no effect. "Reload Menu" in admin, then looking at the page, nothing changes.
If no one has come across this problem, I'll submit a help ticket.
I still do not understand the reference in the help notes to shopa_menucreate.asp - this file does not exist (even though this is not the file one is suppose to mess with).
Could someone look at their VPASP 6.08 files and tell me if you have the file shopa_menucreate.asp? Maybe I'm missing a VPASP page. . .? |

Hi,
The reference to shopa_menucreate.asp in the helpnote is an error - the file you need to edit (as described in the rest of the instructions) is shopa_navigation_create.asp - I have modified the helpnote to reflect this. Thank you for pointing this out to us.
You may not be seeing the border if you have not refreshed your browser.
It could also be that your "editor" folder does not have sufficient read/write permissions and as such the update that should be made by clicking "Reload Menu" in your admin will not be working.
Please check that the editor folder has read/write permissions.
If neither of these suggestions helps with your issue, please log a support ticket at: https://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/helpdesk
Thank you

Thanks Michael,
I submitted a support ticket, Michael responded quickly, and I pasted his response below in case anyone else runs into this particular problem: ===== The Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A0046) Permission denied error means that you need to give write permission to IUSR_<machine name> user on this editor folder. Once you have your host apply this change, you should be able to view the debugging border used in the horizontal navigation flicker fix. =====
Seems to me, Alentus (my site host) should set up all permissions ahead of time, once knowing that the site is using VPASP. Oh well, they did responde quickly as well, changing the read/write permissions. Once this was done, getting the horizontal navigation to work correctly was easy.
What I don't quite understand in all this, is that when I open my site at Alentus via FTP, I can right-click on a folder, and it shows "properties." The permissions are set at 777, it looks like the folder should have worked. But apparently, there are some permissions that can only be set by the host? |

How can you fix this problem if using the Free Starter pac? There is no "Reload Menu" action in Admin. |

Hi there,
This has been fixed in version 6.09 so that you do not need to worry about making changes any more. The code can tell when you have updated the settings.
Thanks, Cam

I have 6.09 (Starter PAC) and I want to add an image that has a height of 135 pixles. The menus don't work so I had to modify the horonavbar_divs.html file changing the top paramater in the first div tag.

Sorry I didn't see the new Helpnote telling about adding the id="logo" and name="logo". |

I am also having that problem but in a somewhat strange way. using 6.09 I have done what the help suggested and the bar moved in Firefox but not in IE.
I submitted a help ticket over 12 hours ago and have not heard back (I know it is there as I can see the ticket).
I have left the bars on for the time being if anyone can offer any suggestions. The site is http://www.recreationalflying.com.au/shop and have a look at it with both Firefox and then again with IE.
Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Dear Ian,
Sorry for the delay in replying your helpdesk ticket, we are still looking into this issue. It seems that if I move the image out side of the table, it will register the height of the image via Javascript (i.e. 112 pixels). However, at its current position, it is returning 0 pixels, thus causing the problem.
We will hopefully have a solution for your soon.
Thank you.
Regards, Joseph

Thanks Joseph - all is working now after youradvice in the help desk ticket system.
For others it seemed that as I have a row that contains the page name, in this case On-Line Store, that goes in the header of the page the v6.09 fix wasn't needed so when the fix (around line 145 of the shopa_navigationcreate file was removed it all worked great.
Funny how it still worked in Firefox though when IE is more forgiving then Firefox.
Thanks again Joseph.

I had the flicker problem in V 6.09 also. Image height went from default 72 to 91. Had to change in first line of horonavbar_divs.html
<div id="closer" style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:218px; width:99%; height:181px; z-index:1; visibility: hidden">
top was 118px, which placed the javascript table/cell in the middle of the horizontal menu.
Works fine now. |

My top navigation bar in v6.09 is flickering. I have seen and read the responses in the forums but I am not sure how to fix.
My logo is still using the defaults <td width="70%"><img src="images/header/hdr_logo.jpg" width="288" height="72" id="logo"></td>
I have not modify the horonavbar_divs.html or any of the menu creation files.
In the shoppage-header file I added a new style sheet and made the table size 90% instead of 100% to narrow the diplay of the site.
My horonavbar_divs.html first line reads
<div id="dropdown1" style="position:absolute; left:551px; top:150px; width:92px; z-index:6; visibility: hidden">
Update Fixed problem. I had one extra table tag defination in my page footer that caused the menu to flicker. I wouldn't have expected to to occur but problem solved. |
