Hi, welcome to the vpasp community!
have a look at this link which has got a summarised list of things to help you get into customising bits+pieces etc (and the "$" trick; I can't mention that $ trick too much; it's really really useful!) -

that sample layout should be easy to translate into vpasp; vpasp uses style sheets and common headers/trailers which you can do anything you like with. if you struggle with the html for the panels, then you might find our panel-splitter for vpasp useful (linked on the page above)
and if you're a sql-guru and want to be able to run dml/ddl statements via vpasp admin while you're in the system rather than having to delve into a sqlserver/access front-end, then download our freebie "Advanced SQL Execution" tool; it's amazingly useful if you know sql:
