Before purchasing v6, can you confirm that it is possible to use the currency switching feature whilst using template formatting for product display as I don't want to use the standard layout - also, will it work with inventory products and extended descriptions?

This is correct. All currencies right down to the currency in the email sent to the customer convert to the selected currency display.

The value sent to the gateway though is in the default currency so no matter what is selected by the customer the correct currency is also used in the backgroud.
