I like the html editing tools on the product descriptions but would it be possible to have a browse facility in the insert image window and a text box to enter alternative text for the image?
It would also be useful to be able to add alternative text to images when using the Uploading image facility for Image and Large Image.

Totally agree with this point, ver5.5 was more friendly for adding images, seems a pity that it hasnt been resolved with the updates yet.

The image upload feature is actually much improved in version 6.00 as you no longer need to have a record to upload an image.

To see the new image upload fucntionality go into the online configuration and search on xupload. Set this to Yes.

Next search on xhtmleditor and set this option to Yes.

In the products record you will now see the image upload link and the body of the extended description pages will have the new advanced html editor.

Thank you

Sorry you misunderstand me.
What is needed is a browse facility in the insert image window for the html editor NOT the upload image function. There are many products for which I have extended descriptions including multiple images & these are inserted through the html editor.
Also, what about alternative text for images? This is not an option anywhere and is important for users with talking browsers or screen readers.

You can display alternative text for the images uploaded using the VPASP upload process by changing the template files. Simply change the image reference to read for example something like:

<img src=[cimageurl] alt=[cname]>

The code is open source so there is almost no limit to what you can do.

The HTML Editor is not our system and was developed by another company. While it has some amazing features we decided to limit what was available for security reasons to ensure our customers sites were as protected as possible.

If you wish to purchase the editor from them there are many more features including what you are after in the base package.
