Thought the top nav and the footer will remain the same, the client wants the left nav to change with each catergory. it will be an image map that will change. So if the put top nav in the shoppage_header and the footer in the shoppage_footer file how do i put a diff left nav in the diff cat?

If i am not mistaken the template effects only the product layout.

You may be able to use this to do it:

if you put your left nav code in the heading that will be pointed to for each category.
