Before I go and spend the money on the secure certificate and all the other junk i need to get it working I was wondering if anyone else is using it.

Already the directions VPASP gives do not match the reality of the Com objects from Linkpoint. The file names are different and two DLL's mentioned do not exist so I have my doubts.

Thanks

I am in the process of getting my new merchant account set up. It just so happens my new merchant company uses the linkpoint gateway. I will be setting it up soon.

The file lpi_com_6_0.dll as mentioned from the gateway instructions differs from the name of the file linkpoint provides. Linkpoints filename is LpiCom_6_0.dll. Notice the underscore after lpi. It got it from 30015_lcom.zip.

I havn't been able to locate ssleay32.dll or libeay32.dll from linkpoints download page. I did however find them here: http://www.dll-files.com/

My account with linkpoint is not active yet, so I can't get support until then, probably a couple days. Then I can contact linkpoint about the ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll. They might have different versions than the ones I found at http://www.dll-files.com/

Maybe vp-asp support can shed more light on the lpi_com_6_0.dll vs LpiCom_6_0.dll naming issue. It might just be a type in the instruction file.

I think the gateway should work in version 5.5 since it is available in the 5.5 download section so I am willing to bet vp-asp staff tested it before releasing it to the us.

Is there anyone that actually has this gateway running with 5.5 that can help us out?

Thanks

Our apologies, yes lpi_com_6_0.dll is simply a typo in the readme and it should read as LpiCom_6_0.dll.

We apologise for the confusion.

Just to update everyone. The linkpoint gateway provided by vp-asp for version 5.5 does work.

I am setting it up on my site now.

I have successfully made test transactions so I know the functionality is there and it is working perfectly in my test enviornment.

Once I finish updating some the pages, I have some formatting issues as a result of some visual changes I made, then I will take the linkpoint gateway live!

Once it is live, I will make a real transaction (which I can cancel so it doesn't get sent through the batch and actually charge my card) Then I will confirm it works on live site.

Thanks,

We're using LinkPoint Connect and are looking to migrate over to LinkPoint API. I believe that is the same as LinkPoint V6.
I'm not an expert programmer so I'm looking for advice in this install. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

calliope,

I am using the linkpoint API gateway provided by vp-asp.

I installed per the instructions with a couple of exceptions.

In the config asp file, they tell you to put your mechant number for the config file value. What I found you actually need to use is your linkpoint connect store id. My merchant number is different.

The other thing I found is when you are doing testing when you first set it up and the value for testing in the config .asp file is "Yes", then you need to have a test account active. The test mode uses a different server for testing. You can request a test store online at linkpoints website.

You will need three dll files. LpiCom_6_0.dll can be downlaoded on linkpoints website in the download section. ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll can be downloaded here http://www.slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html

Once you get started, if you find you are running into any problems, please feel free to e-mail me and I will try to assist you any way I can.

thanks bmw000!

I will try to do the migration in a week or two. A couple of things still worry me. First, what to do with credit cards. If I understand correctly, the credit card information will remain in the database. I am thinking of making a program that erases the credit card info at the thank you page.
Two, what type of secure certificate to use. The host we will change to in a few days has what they call a 'starter certificate' (http://www.webhost4life.com/sslcert.asp) and I'm not sure if that will work with the API.

There is a feature in the linkpoint api where you can tell it to save the card numbers or not. For security reason, you would want to keep that setting to no so it doesn't save card numbers. It's in the config file for the linkpoint api.

I am using the stater ssl package from my webhost. I pay $49 a year for the ssl cert. My webhost uses http://www.instantssl.com. I think as long as it is 128 bit it will work ok. To be sure, you will have to get the specifics of the ssl cert you are interested in from your host and talk with linkpoint directly to make sure it is compatible.
