I didn't get an answer to my offline email so I'll ask here. Anybody know what tool to use to get these types of stats so I can check my websites?

ok Wayne...

I am confused (the directions leave soemthing to be desired)

I run windows 2000 server, I dont run server extentions.
(I couldnt find where to turn them on either!)

I copied all the files to the directory although I dont hink I need any of the php stuff do i?

I put in the include,

I added the
<% dim ads Then ads = ad_network ads(0) ads(1) %>
to the trailer

and I put the
For ASP
<%=ads(1)%> | <%=ads(2)%> | <%=ads(3)%> | <%=ads(4)%> | <%=ads(4)%>

in the trailer

I dont think it needs both does it?

Last Check: Apr 5, 2005 (manually entered)
Keyword Phrase: Water Filter (manually entered)
URL Listed in Google: http://www.apswater.com/page2.html (www.mcdar.net keyword analysis tool)
Rank in Google: 556 (www.mcdar.net keyword analysis tool)
All In Anchor for keyword: Not in top 1000 (www.mcdar.net keyword analysis tool)
Home page listed in Google: No (www.mcdar.net keyword analysis tool)
Yahoo Links: 273 (www.yahoo.com linkdomain:www.domain.com)
MSN Links: 375 (www.msn.com link:www.domain.com)

Apswater,

I only sent you everythingg because I didn't know what types of files you had on your website. If you do not have any PHP or HTML pages on your website then no, you do not need the PHP.

On Shopping Cart Pages
You should be able to include the following in your shop$db.asp file:
<!-- #include virtual=/ad_network.asp -->

Replace ad_network.asp with whatever you name the ASP and pathway of the ASP file is.......
That is all you should need.

On any pages that are not shopping cart
Just include the pathway to the ASP file in the header
<!-- #include virtual=/ad_network.asp -->
Again, replace whatever you name the asp file and the pathway to it.

Do you have the blank text file there as well? Make sure the text file has writable permissions.

That should be all you need. The ASP script should automatically put the ads on your pages.

This is a brand new script that they just came out with. I will write in the forums and see if there is anything else that needs to be accomplished.

There will be one thing that you will want to change within the ASP script.

The following line: (line 19)
ad_type = "text" '"link" for text link | "text" for text banner | "" (empty) for graphical banner

Change that to
ad_type = "link" '"link" for text link | "text" for text banner | "" (empty) for graphical banner

Funny thread. Reminds me of religions which are founded on "the more people that believe it is true, the more true it must be!"

Just wondering, what keyword is Digital Point Solutions targetting? Surely they have removed the cap for themselves. I can't find them under "SEO". I noticed they have a decent PR, but they also have 837,000 pages in Google (thanks mainly to the suckers generating free content on their forums, I assume).

Apswater,

It looks like we still need the following line in the shoppage_footer.htm file

<%=ad_network%>

That should take care of it.

========================================================

Justin,

I am not sure of everything they are targeting however 1 of their keyword phrases is Free Hit Counter for the following specific webpage:
http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/counter/

You will find them at #10 in Google
#11 in Yahoo
#13 in MSN.

I just did a few refreshes of my site until one of their ads came up.

I also found them under Online Advertising for the following specific page:
http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/

#7 in Google of 204,000,000
#9 in Yahoo of 127,000,000
#19 in MSN of 24,059,850

The greatest thing about that one is they don't have the word online anywhere in their title or serp or even anywhere on their page.

I found another one as well
Free Advertising for the following specific webpage:
www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/

#2 in Google of 187,000,000
#1 in MSN of 27,667,494
#5 in Yahoo of 124,000,000

The real interesting thing is read the #2 description in Yahoo:
The number 2 website is www.ffshrine.org/store-compare/free-advertising.php
Their description is as follows:
Free Advertising! The digitalpoint coop ad network is one of the best opportunities out there on the ... really should check out the free advertising provided by the digitalpoint coop ...

Hmmmm,

Here are a few posts:
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=138499&highlight=asp+writable#post138499

That looks like the newest ASP file.

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=32951&postcount=1

Those are the instructions to place them on ASP.

The only thing to do from there is instead of placing
<!--#include virtual="/ad_network.asp"--> directly onto your page, place it into your shop$db.asp file at the top with the correct name and pathway to the file.

Make sure you have a blank ad_network.txt file in the same directory as your ad_network.asp file. Make sure the .txt file has writable permissions.

And place this onto your page
<%=ad_network%>

Other than that, I am not usre why it is not working. Try writing into the digitalpoint forums. There are 10,000 people that are extrememly nice and will help you every step of the way on setting it up.

Apswater,

Did you get a chance to post in the digital point forums on getting the ads up and running?

Ask in the Digital Point forums if they can help. I cannot make the instructions any clearer. What error does it give you?
http://forums.digitalpoint.com

Ask Howard or Cam to see if they can help get the newest version to work with the shopping cart. They helped out tremendously when I got the first version to work.

The instructions are all the same. You don't do anything different for 2000 server that you would for any of the other ones.

I posted exactly what to do.

That is it. There is nothing else to do. If you are getting an error. We need to know what that error is.
