In case anyone's after this....

We found out that user-text-boxes are available as feature types on the nov-2nd-2004 version of 5.5 (it wasn't in the pre-nov-2nd version of 5.5; pre-nov-2nd 5.5 only had text-fields; post-nov-2nd has text-fields and text-boxes).
