If you have not signed up with the DP Network yet you can sign up below. This is a great way to receive links to your website without having to go through the trouble of link exchanging. It is extremely easy to set up and Shawn, the owner, has made it available at no charge.
This network places your website on thousands of other websites and is free. We have been in the network for 10 days, as of this post, and have seen our website rise from being non-existent in the the main search engines to number 21-41 (Depending on which search engine) for extremely competitive keyword phrases.
We have also noticed our website traffic has tripled since being on the network. Thus, as the natural next step we have seen a severe increase in our orders.

Started February 1st:
Had 1148 backlinks in MSN
We were number 60 for our main search term yahoo
We were not found in Google for our main search term at all
10 days later:
We have over 4000 backlinks in MSN
We are number 21 in yahoo for our main search term
We are number 35 in google for our main search term
13 days later:
We have over 6000 backlinks in MSN. Started out with 1000 before the network.
We have 1200 backlinks in Yahoo now. Started out with 900.
We are number 19 for our mains search term in Yahoo
We are number 21 for our main search term in Google.
Our allinanchor has moved up to #5
We are found number 33 for our secondary search term in Google.
We are found number 60 Yahoo for our secondary search term.
18 Days Later
We have over 6000 backlinks in MSN. Started out with 1000 before the network.

Step 1- Look at some of the keyword phrases at the bottom of the page
Step 2- Take down the keyword phrase and the website address that it points to.
Step 3- Search MSN or any search engine for that keyword phrase.
Step 4- Look at the competition, at the top of the page it will say 1-49 of around ???,???,???.
Look at what spot that website is in.
Step 5- Go to www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion and see how many people are searching for that keyword phrase.

Setup procedures
1. Sign up with a DP account:

Click on the create an account link in the middle of the paragraph
Remember to include the http:// when fillinng in your website address
2. Download the code ad_network.asp code

3. Create a blank text file and name it ad_network_ads.txt
4. Upload both of these files to root directory on your server.
5. Make sure the ad_network_ads.txt file has write permissions. If you are on a linux or unix server then you do this in your ftp client by right clicking on it and choosing the chmods command, more than likely (WS_FTP) in your operations options or click properties and it should be there. You want there to be write permissions across the board. If you are on a windows server this should automatically have write persmissions. If it does not then you have to contact your hosting company.
6. Add the following line at the top of your shop$db.asp

NOTE: You can also include an ad_network.asp file in your shopping directory. In this case you would just put the following code in your shop$dp.asp file

7. Include the following code within your shoppage_trailer.asp

8. Include the following code wherever you want to diplay the ads. The following code must be placed below the above code.

9. Sign into your DP acccount and validate your links if you have a Google API.
10. Please come back in 2 weeks and let us know how you are doing.
If you do not have your own Google API, get one. It is free and will help tremendously when validating your website.

Remember, In order for your links to be displayed on thousands of other pages you must show these links on everyone of your pages. You can show 1-5 links however I highly suggest showing 5 because that will give you more weight. The more weight you have the more times your links get shown on other peoples websites.
NOTE: If you have pages on your website other than ASP you will need to set those up as well however it is not hard to set them up... IE. html or PHP.
PHP is extremely easy to set up. HTML is pretty easy to set up as well depending on whether you are on a linux or windows server and what type of control panel you have.
There are setup procedures for just about every language I can think of in the DP forums. IE, CGI/PERL, ASP.net, JSP and the list goes on and on and on.

We now have our
main keyword phrase at number 32 and our secondary keyword phrase at 34 in Google thanks to the network.
If your google preferences are set to see 100 search results at a time then do a find for worldfamous. If your google preferences are set to view 10 search results at a time then click on page 3 and do a find for worldfamous.
These results have happened within 9 days of using the network.
Both of these keyword phrases we were not found in google for prior to starting this network.

Guys,
Go to google and buy a keyword ad and you will hit the search engines in a day or less. The more you spend the faster it is. We are usually in the top 3 for our keywords. Ever since I coded the pages to change the meta title to the catagory name and make the meta description the cdescription, our hit went through the roof. I did the same for the shoexd pages too.

The following are more results that I am seeing on the network just under 2 weeks.
(It looks as if there is a bug when signing up. When you go to the following addres:

Click on Create a New Account, it is a link within the paragraph
When filling out the sign up form make sure you include the http:// in your website address.)
Okay after just under 2 weeks.... here is the final... Looks like we are maintainng for right now in Google as around 32-40 for our main search term... a LONG cry from not being listed at all.
Looks like we are maintaining in Yahoo at 21 for our main search term... This moved up quite a bit as well.
We are not listed in MSN at all however have gained almost 4000 backlinks in MSN. we are awaiting them to update their search engine as well.... We will see where that leads us in about 6 weeks.
We have gained around 10-100 backlinks in yahoo depending on whose tool you look at or if you look at linkdomain in yahoo.
We have not gained any backlinks in G but then again, we moved up in rank 960+ spots.

I gave the google tip for the VP-asp users as I am one too... I dont make anything off google.. it is just a great cheap way to get into the search engines faster and higher, so please respect all of us who give usefull info, My guess is you are getting a kickback for your suggestion, I am not.

That is quite useful.... people need to check that out if concerned with the new MSN Spiders indexing your website. There is a lot of good information on that page. With MSN Spiders running wild about 5 times as fast as Google spiders they will need it.

Apswater- can you provide more detain into how you altered the code to change the meta title to the catagory name and make the meta description the cdescription? Also, do you mean that the combination of the google ad and the metatag change increased your leads? Or just the google leads?

part 2, you cant get anyone to even look at you for 6 weeks so the tags and title wont help that. The tags and title just make sure you get in the seearch engines a bunch of times becasue it is the only way to make all your pages look different to a search engine. the title is very important even more then the description but the more you have both the more you get listed and the higher your rankings.
So yes, the google ad got the spiders coming much faster.

That is pretty awesome what you did with the meta tags.
However according to that website provided meta's are the most important thing. This does not hold true anymore. Most search engines do not even look at your meta keywords anymore. The description is still used but certainly is not the most important thing out of the website.
They use snippets from your website. Some of them still look at your meta description such as yahoo will still use part of it however will look towards your copy to find the rest of the snippet it outputs. Google will use your description as long as your keyword phrase is within it however it has absolutely no play in your ranking if your keyword phrase is not in there. Now, the meta search engines... absolutely still utilize them. I am unsure at this time whether MSN uses it or not.
Update for everyone else.
We have now moved into number 19 for our main search term in Yahoo and have moved up to #21 in Google.
Our allinanchor has moved up to number 5.
Our 2nd search term we have moved up to #36 and our allinanchor is 14.
This is after being in the network just over 2 weeks. If you have not joined..... do so now.. It is free and it helps tremendously with search engine ranking.

The main thing was to change thew title because by default all the vp-asp pages have the same title. All search engins look at your titles. I threw in the dexscription and keywords just in case since it was simple one I got the upper category name.

I see what you have there is a link exchange.. I have my own thoughs on giving people any choices that take their focus away and gets them away from the site. you do however have a ton on links out there.
