We are panning to add SMS support to VP-ASP. This will allow you to receive text messages (SMS) on your mobile phone when an order is received. SMS current requires that you sign up with an SMS Service.

We have code now that works with http://smscentral.com.au for VP-ASP 5.0 if anyone would like to test it.

We are looking for recommendations for SMS services in the US and Europe that you think we should support.

Any recommendations? You can write directly to [email protected] or put recommendations here.

An alternate way to do this in lieu of using a 3rd party sms service would be to add an alternate e-mail address for e-mail notifications. With my cell service, I can recieve e-mail via my cell phone. This would be nice because then I don't need a 3rd pary sms service. Then the user has a choice between sms or regular e-mail to thier phone.

Alternate emails can already be done usinf email list facility of Vp-ASP. You can specify a template with minimum amount of information (to get within message text limit) and add that to the email list to be sent at end of the order.

Obviously this email to phone number is specific to your telephone company.

Hi, how about the server at http://www.clickatell.com , they seem to have a number of docs on using their API to develop apps such as VPASP to work within their sms system

Cheers

Clickatell (http://www.clickatell.com), are a large, established, quality SMS service provider with COMPETITIVE rates per message.

I would like to see VPASP add support for Clickatell.

Clickatell should be a valid value for the "Xsmsservice" parameter.
