Thanks to the Guys at yourvirtualstore.net i now have a true Buy X Get X free solution

and example can bee seen at:

http://213.210.34.198/www/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=13&cat=Epson

This is a test site so feel free to play!

The utility work exactly as our specification, and may not suite everyone. The main point of this post is to praise the programmers at yourvirtualstore, the work is fast, and at a very good rate, if you are looking for a solution of any type and have not found it here send them an email asking for a quote

Hi Searly-

Your link is down so I can't try it out. I'm sure you've moved it to a production store by now... perhaps you solved the following?

Everyone-

I'm interested in combining buy X get Y free combined with grouping. The discount would read something like "Buy any combination of 10 gidget type products and get 5 gadgets free!" Page 97 of the VP-ASP 5.0 Developer's guide says the following in regards to the Buy One Get One Free feature: "Products are not grouped. The limits are based purely on the individual quantities of the products in the cart."

How hard would it be to combine buy x get y free with the groupfordiscount field of the QuantityDiscounts table? I'm guessing it might be a single variable change, or a few lines copied since the grouped discount is already implemented separately.

Has anyone tried this or have recommendations?

Hi

yes the example link was just a dev site, we norammly disable it when inactive for long periods, it can be tried via the live site in the footer text.

The was added to V4.5 before vpasp had any support for it, it was made to our own custom spec, we dont group, so that was not needed..

what you could do is contact cam, at yourvirtualstore, and get a quote, i have found the costs for custom work to be very good!
