I am trying to set up a web site with VP-ASP but I am running into a major snag. My problem is is that when I am at the home page I can access any link such as shop config or customer service or view cart but when I click on "Shop" so I can see if the categories and products I loaded works, it tries to load for about 90 seconds and then I get an error saying that the script timed out. I have no idea what the problem is. I uninstalled IIS and reinstalled and it still doesn't work. Please help

Hi there,

If you are using Norton Anti Virus on your local machine you may have run into a known issue.

Click below for instructions on how to fix if you are running Norton:

Cam,

Does this mean that anyone running Norton on their computer could have a problem at our sites? Or just if you are running Norton on the server?

Anyone running Norton can have the problem. The problem lies in the ASP page making calls to the file system. Norton blocks these as it might be malicious code trying to do something to your computer. There are a few VPASP files but they are all related to admin functions. The only one that might be of concern is the shopfileio.asp page. It contains a sub that references FileSystemObject. In turn this sub is referenced by other subs. Some of these to opening and reading other files such as templates. These could effect a customers shopping experience but I haven't researched to what effect.

Maybe support has a comment on this!!!

Ciao,

Al

I originally thought it was simply if you were running Norton on your local server.

One of our customers though recently reported an issue with Norton causing problems with a site that was hosted remotely. The customer had Norton Anti Virus installed on their PC and it was causing issues with the web site when they were trying to order.

We haven't heard anything further nor have we heard of anyone else with this but if you have please post as I would be interested to know if this is a more wide spread problem.

Cheers,
Cam
