I am losing customers who don't want to log in to get a shipping quote.
And others do log in, get their quote, and leave... and I have to
call them to see if they wanted the item or not, because they don't
enter any credit card info.

How can I add a shipping calculator in the shopping cart, before they
have to log in?

Joe, as far as I know, there is no switch for it. I could code it for you if you'd like (I've done it on my site which is not out of the box vp-asp). Take a look at my site: (www.hqgear.com) and go thru the process (select a product, customize it, generate a quote) In my quote generation process I include shipping.

I made "I'm just testing" - as a payment option - this way a customer can complete a test order, and you don't have to contact them - because you know it's jut a test to find the shipping amount or whatever.
