supposing I want to run a promo where it says take 10% (or $50) off your next order, and this is valid for one-time use by each customer - is it possible to implement using coupon?

From what I understood with coupons, you can limit it for num of usage, or for selected customers.. but not in terms of one-time usage per customer. Is my understanding correct?

do you want to apply 10% coupon to certain customers who meet sales targets?

eg;

There is a coupon in your store: BIGSALE10

The customer can apply the coupon for minimum order $200, and coupons can only be used once by related customer?

Hi swampthink, the sales targets is optional but "use once" is required to be implemented.

Taking your example, the customer can submit two > $200 orders using the BIGSALE10 coupon and still get the discounts on the 2nd order.
