I have a site for a trade organization that has members only features on the site. Member information, including passwords, is held in a database and they can login to access the members only areas. New members are added to the database via an application form, after they are approved.
What I'm trying to do is two-fold. The products in the store each have two prices: one for members and one for non-members. I need to allow members to login using their existing password information in the other database and give them a different price on each product.
Alternatively to using the password info in the outside db, I could add each member to the customer table and set up customer pricing. However, I would then have to integrate the application form so that new members are automatically added to the customer table. Also considering that the site has over 300 members I would have to import, this is not my preferred option.
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can set this up?
