"What are Word Clouds?" you may ask, well, it's a visual way of showing words that are relevant to your site/business so that your customers can easily see the kind of stuff you sell and the kind of searches that they might like to do.

You show a set of words, with each word linked to the corresponding product search results, and the words are shown in different sizes depending on how important they are.

They're one of those things that before you try them on your own site you might think "eh? would that be useful to my customers?" but when you install/try it, a light-bulb will come on in your head and you'll see "ah, yes, I get it; that's cool; my visitors/customers will love that".

It's also a nice easy one to install.

Anyway, take a look at the link below which explains it in detail and which has links to how it works/looks etc:

Tag Cloud (Word Cloud) Generator/Display for VPASP - BYZ174:
http://www.bigyellowkey.com/mysoftware_product_details.asp?prdid=372

The best part of it is that you simply configure which products columns you want to source your words from (which can include extendeddesc that holds tons of html and weird tags etc), and it'll generate all the cloud words in a clean format for you in one shot; just press a button in admin to create relevant words for all your products in the database to display in clouds.

If you're also using BYZ119, keyword tools (which is now available for vpasp v4.5 to v7), then the word cloud becomes even better as it means you can source your word clouds from category info too; using BYZ119 gives the words a more accurate weight than if you used BYZ174 on its own, although you don't need BYZ119 for BYZ174 to work.

Here's an example of how the generated cloud words show relevant words....

If you had a product with a description of:

This Sony 42inch television is really great, we think you should try it. It's something that you'll treasure for years. Sony are Japanese and make some really good products.

That product would only have by default 5 cloud words generated for it:

Sony,42inch,television,treasure,Japanese

because all the other words are either in the default excluded word list or are shorter than 3 characters (and the word "Sony", although it appears twice, is only stored once in the word cloud table for that product and is given a count value of 2 on that record)
