We have hit a real problem with VPASP and our business.

We want to move more into fully targeted email marketing where customers receive an email based on what they have purchased in the past.

The idea is that order information will automatically be passed over to the marketing system and depending on what was ordered a set path of email marketing would follow.

We have found a company who we feel we could work with called EmailVision, however to integrate will need us to create an API which will talk to their system. However I have no idea even where to start with this and have contacted a couple of developers but the costs they are talking about are not feasible for us.

Has anyone had any experience of integrating vpasp to such a system? Or have you done such an integration with another email marketing company?

Our email marketing is holding us back and as much as I like VP it looks as though we are going to have to move away from it if we can't sort ths out.

Hi Steve,

We actually use a company called Campaign Monitor for our newsletters. By far the best we have found and with the best payment plan. They only charge for emails actually sent rather than a monthly fee based on the number of users in your database.

We use the built in VPASP export routine to export customer groups out of the VPASP admin and pump them into the Campaign Monitor admin so we can easily send out targetted newsletters.

Thanks for the reply.

Have you done a full integration with campaignmonitor? If you have can you share how it was done?

What we want is for orders and customers to be automatically added to the marketing software. Then we can have pre set marketing plans depending on the products that have been purchased.

For example if a customer buys a toy without lubricant (and they are a new customer) then we can send an email advising them about the pros of using a good quality lube. If they are already a customer then the system will check previous orders and if they have never purchased a lube then the email will be sent to them.

This should happen within half an hour of the original transaction as customers are still in purchasing mode hence why it should be automated.

We are essentially looking at moving to the next level of emailing as we currently use a spray and pray system.

We are working on integrating with Campaign Monitor currently but for the time being it is a manual process.

Should have something out for beta testing in a few weeks though.

We will only be developing for version 7.00 however once built you will be able to take the files and modify them for use with earlier releases.
