At what point should someone running a VPASP site have to move from cheap shared hosting?

Our site is having some issues running slow. Switching from an access database to a MySQL site helped out a lot, but we are still having performance issues.

Over the past week we have went from 4850 to 6880 visitors per day.

So far this month we have averaged 2.3 GB in bandwidth per day.

According to Google analytics we are getting 1400 to 1568 users per day.

We even store most of the images from our website on a separate server.

Hi there

I would not use SQL Server on a VPS but you can use MySQL without any performance degradation we have found.

We have a few customers on VPS servers and find the ones running MySQL perform better than the SQL Server sites when everything is hosted on the one small server.

I also would not use cheap hosting as well. :)

For a lot of people the web site is the core of their business and to rely on something you are paying a few dollars a month for is an interesting way of looking for reliability.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
