We are using ver 6.5 and are needing persistant cart sessions or the cart to be held in a cookie so if a visitor returns their cart is still there.

However I can't seem to get cookies to work in 6.5.

Any ideas?

Hi Steve,

ask support if they've managed to crack the security issues with the cartcookie.asp file. It was a great add on and they should really think about producing another version now.

Regards,

Hi all

We do have this feature back in version 7.01.

Relies a lot on the databese so does slow things down a bit though.

Thank you.

Hi Cam,

Out of interest by how much does it slow the database down?

Thanks

In my testing, it's about a 30% decrease: http://www.vpasp.com/virtprog/vpaspforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14238

Support did some work to improve this, but ultimately confirmed about a '1 to 2 second' decrease was normal. It was too slow for me, and made then whole site feel sluggish.

Wow, that is quite a big slowdown.

Looks like I may be reconsidering my plans.

Hi Peter,

We have been tweaking the code again so if you want to run a few more tests please let me know.

Just re-open the helpdesk ticket and we can apply the code to your test site for you to see how it goes.

Thank you.

I'd be interested in the results as well.

I have since decided against upgrading that project to version 7 and don't currently have a project to test with.

I am also interested in any improvements. Perhaps support can create a copy of the online demo with this feature enabled? With a default install on your server, we'd know it was running at the optimum speed.
