Hi,
Is an upgrade from 6.5 to 7 performed in a new folder, or are the v.7 files merged into the existing site's folders?
I have created a new folder called "vpasp" inside my existing site, copied v.7 files to that folder, and run upgrade almost to completion (before failing).
Am I starting off from the right point?
Cheers,
Luke

I think you should follow the Upgrade guide for sure, there mentioned about to compare V7 files with your V6.5 files if you have previous customisation, need to copy to V7. If no customisation made, you should overwrite the existing files and to put V6.5 shop$config.asp file into the Upgrade folder for sure.

Diego.

V7 adds folders for the admin during the wizard..
you have to assign write priveledges and if you check the security it is best to re-name the admin folder and the /db folder to something different to avoid the hackers. Failure to assign proper prioveledges will make your upgrade not work.

is it possible to perform the upgrade in a new directory? I would like to create a new directory, leaving the existing site alone. I have already purchased the upgrade and in process of uploading the files that were emailed to me to the new directory that I created. I was planning to use a copy of the existing database but creating a new path basically...leaving the old path alone, untouched...just to ensure everything goes smoothly while not messing with the existing install.

Hi Debbie,

It is best to create a copy of your database to run a test upgrade on as it does change the structure so that once upgraded you can only use the VPASP 7.0 admin.

Once you are comfortable you can then run the upgrade on your live database. Make sure you have a back up though just in case of any issues.

Thank you.

Yes I was able to install the upgrade in a new directory. However what I did was copy the entire website to the new directory and created an identical copy of the mssql database with a different name. Then updated the config file to make sure it points to the new mssql database. I tested the shop and everything worked just the same. Then I performed the upgrade. I did this so that nothing would affect the existing shop. I couldn't take a chance of anything going wrong and we will use the new directory as the main website.

But now after spending days getting the shop all configured and setup, everything looks and works great, except the payment gateway isn't working. It appears that the order gets submitted successfully yet the payment processing does nothing. We are using Sage (formerly EFT). I followed their upgrade instructions exactly. When an order is placed and a credit card is entered, a message comes up with the order number and it looks like a successful order. Yet the payment processor did not get the order.
I called the pmt processor (Sage) and they said the problem isn't on their end as they did not receive anything, no order. I've done this numerous times, still no order goes through to the payment processor. When I go back to the old site, orders do go through.
Please help, I don't know where else to check.

Oh also, it is running version 7.01.

turns out there are 2 files that need to be modified. The instructions state to modify config/shop$config.asp but you also need to modify admin/config/shop$config.asp.
