Is it possible to put a discount on specific categories:

say a 10% discount on products under on category A, and 20% on categogy B

Hi,

yes, you can make discounts apply to specific categories by using the quantity discounts set up. If you are using v6.50 this is how to set it up.
In Cart Set Up find the field xquantityprices and set to Yes
The click on the Discounts tab and click Quantity Discounts.
Click Add a record and set it up as follows:
categoryid=17 (or whatever your category 'A' is)
catalogid = leave this blank
minquantity=1 (or 5 or whatever the minimum purchase from the category has to be before the discount is applied)
quantity1=1000
discount1=0.1 (for a 10% discount on categoryA)
Leave all the other fields blank and save the record

Go through the same steps for Category B but at discount1 put in 0.2 for 20% discount on this category.
