Hi guys,
over the last few weeks we've had a huge increase in general spam to our mail server and many of our genuine Contact Us messages from the website were getting overlooked in the hundreds of daily spam messages. I figured out that the best way round this was to control part of the subject line of the message from the Contact Us page (without the customer seeing it) by inserting a word or phrase so that we can set our spam filter to ok any message with this word or phrase in the subject line. I use v6.50. Here's how to achieve this:
Open shopcustcontact.asp
Find Sub ValidateData (line 55 approx)
Find the line:
strsubject=cleanchars(request("strsubject"))
Immediately after this line insert the following:
'*** custom addition to subject line to get message through spam filters
strsubject="From Your Company Name Website: " & strsubject
It's simple but effective.
