Hello
I have made a category called GPS Units (52) ---
a category called Garmin (67) sub of GPS Units(52) ---
a category called On the Road (68) Sub of Garmin( 67)
now I tried to make a product called Street Pilot 7200 and when I try to select the category it belongs to the GPS Units52, garmin(67), on the road(68) won’t appear in the drop down list. Out of neccessity I made it a product of Nuvi 1520. The only thing I have noticed in the DB is that under cstock there is the number 0 I have never entered anything in a field for date or availability in any of the other products. I have noticed in the past that the catagory wasn't listed and i had to go into the DB to manually change them.

If you've got a complex category tree like that, then something you'd find useful is:

BYZ109 - Category Bundle for VPASP:
http://www.bigyellowkey.com/mysoftware_product_details.asp?prdid=311&opu=n

which includes the following 2 modules within it (ie if you bought BYZ109, then you don't need to buy BYZ014/BYZ055 separately) -

BYZ014 - Admin Category Tree for VP-ASP:
http://www.bigyellowkey.com/mysoftware_product_details.asp?prdid=202&opu=n

BYZ055 - Product/Category Fixing/Reporting Utils for VP-ASP:
http://www.bigyellowkey.com/mysoftware_product_details.asp?prdid=263&opu=n

BYZ055 is what would fill in missing gaps in your prodcategories data for you, which is stage 8 of the check/fix links that the screen has, which does this:
say you have a product in category:
a>b>c
but it's not stamped as being in:
a>b
and/or in:
a
then it'll automatically add the product to those missing categories going up the branch.
The other 9 stages of checks/fixes on the byz055 screen do various other things that are useful too. Each stage displays detailed help about exactly what the stage is for and whether or not it's relevant to your setup etc.

BYZ014 gives you a nice "category home" page in admin that you can use as your base when viewing/editing category data. I personally prefer the "list" tree format on that screen rather than the expand/collapse tree format, but you can switch/default to either format via its links and config options.
