I have a customer who has long had his store at one domain, and wants to send people there from another domain. Currently he has domain2 set up at Network Solutions to forward (with masking) to domain1. The problem is that the SSL certificate is set up for domain1. When people come to the site via domain2, everything works fine, but the browser does not display the lock icon during checkout. This may be offputting to customers who think the transaction is not secure.
I think a domain alias would make more sense than masked forwarding, but I'm wondering how to assure people that the checkout process is secure. Alentus tells me that I cannot install an SSL certificate for domain2 since it's an alias.
I could simply forward the checkout to domain1, but am afraid of losing sessions and/or confusing people.
Any advice on how to best set this up? Thanks!
