What I want to do is that when a customer clicks on a thumbnail from a list or items (guess, that could be product display under a category, ex. Shoes> Sneakers), the cart will direct him/her to a product detail page.

VPASP has a sample like that on their online demo (I think it's a "girl's top" product), but the demo page that came with the cart isn't quite like that example.
I do not wish to make individual product pages since I have more than 400 products, so I need a dynamic page.

I know the cart came with some tmp_files I could use to make my own product page, but the thing is it's not quite the way I want. (I don't want just a pop-up window of detailed picture)

In summary, here's what I wish to make.
1.A category display page with a list of thumbnails of items.
2.Each thumbnail will lead to its own product detail page with purchase button.

This is it.
Please cast some light on my dilema.

yes me too, did you find out a way of doing this? it would be normal thing for a cart to have.

For the product detail pages, check out the developers documentation in the section "Extended Descriptions from Database". Then in the two sections before that are how you can customize your category display page with templates.
