I'm a web developer and have been using Authorize.net for years now. Recently I was introduced to a sales rep from a big merchant services company in the US. He has turned out to be extremely flexible with pricing and easy to reach. So far, 2 of my eCommerce customers have converted, saved money, and are very happy.
Here's an example of what he can offer:
Authorize.net with $0 set up, $5/mo with 0-5 cent per transaction fees. He can get good corporate card rates, and offers the swipe machines for those of you with brick and mortar clients.
