Hi, I want to add a sentence of text at the top of my category pages,

i.e 'click on the images below to view further [product name] products'

Does anyone know how to achieve this??

Cheers

Hi Paddy,

You will need to create a template file in a text or html editor (YourCategoryHeader.htm) upload this file to your site and go to your Admin --> Edit Categories. Click on the record you want this header in and find the field Cat Extra. Type in the name of your template here. If you want different headers for different categories you will need to create separate templates for each. Save the record and view your category page.

Hope this helps,

Carrol

Yes, your template should only contain html.
You can either use tags to format the text (<b> text here</b> etc) or use some of the classes defined in the shop.css file. If you need help making the template, just ask. I'm sure one of us in here will help you out.

I have made the template. Just made a html file in dreamweaver with relevant text at the top but it doesn't seem to be working after following your simple instructions.

This is all my template file is ('SeansCategoryHeader.html')

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>

<body>
For a full range of items, select the product catogories below.
</body>

</html>

have done this, uploaded it to site.

gone to cat - edit cat

selected cat

in cat extra text box put 'SeansCategoryHeader.html'

However, the text is not showing at the top of the cat page when I view it...

Any Ideas?

Cheers
Paddy

Hi,

I think the template is fine. You should check in the Admin Panel that you have the following fields set up for category templates: (search for xcategory in Cart Setup)

xcategorydisplaytemplate = tmp_categorytemplate.htm

xcategorydisplaytext = Yes

xcategoryproductsonly = Yes

xcategoryproducttemplates = Yes

xcategoryusetemplate = Yes

Perhaps it's the name of the template file that's causing problems. Remove the 'l' of .html and upload the file again. Change the Cat Extra field in the category record to the new name and Update the record.

If this still does not work, perhaps someone else can shed some light on it, or contact the support guys.

Before you contact them, did you put the template file name into the Cat Extra field with the quote marks round it like you posted in here:
'SeansCategoryHeader.htm' ?
If you did, you will need to remove them.

If this is not the case, then just click the helpdesk tab at the top of this page. You'll need your software purchase order number to send them a message.
