I could swear that just yesterday I was on a VP-ASP site where each item on a page had a qty field and a checkbox and there was a "order slected items" button at the bottom of the page allowing me to add multiple items to my cart with one click. For the life of me I can't seem to find it now. Can somebody point me to where I may have seen this?

Is this standard functionality in VP-ASP and if so how do I turn it onn? If it's an add-on then where would I get it?

It's a standard vpasp option; in site setup change this option:
xproductselect

to yes
