I have spoken with Harold regarding this question and he suggested I post it here. I am looking for some code that will;

1. track users when they visit the site (anywhere on the site not just in the shopping area, the entire site is asp), The code would identify the referring URL and wether the visitor is new or returning and log this info to a DB or a new table in the VPASP DB.

3. from this info the "program" could identify if a buyer (someone who ended up on the thank you page) originated from a Google or Overture ad and record that info.

The idea is to identify the source of the eventual sale, even if that visitor first visited 3 weeks ago from a Google ad.... thus getting a handle on ROI from advert expenditure.

Does anyone else here use Google Adwords?

They have implemented this nifty conversion tracking component. However, I'm yet to get it working. I was wondering if anyone else has got it working and so they could explain to me exactly where to put the code, and what to put as the variable.

I'm only looking to implement the ROI tracking at the moment. I'm sure it goes into shopthanks.asp somewhere, but I want it to add the total cost of the order instead of just the fact that 1 order was converted.

Thanks guys!

JL

I have implemented the ASP Web Page
Hit Tracking from this little company
for years:

http://www.aspwebpro.com

It is only about $49 a copy for
full source code and it writes a
record to a database for every page
rendered by one of your visitors.

The page has to have their include file
at the top. I modified it so that I
get an email sent to me every time
a certain page is opened in fact.

It is perhaps the best bargain for
$50 that I ever found in an ASP utility.

Another service that tracks user traffic
from a link inserted at the top of each
of your pages is this one...

http://www.indextools.com

They charge $20/month but give you
better off the shelf reporting and
tracking than most others in this
arena. They are also an Australian
firm. They also actively seek out
resellers and partners.

I've just come across a very impressive looking product at an excellent price ($/month varies according to traffic levels so small sites can afford this)
http://www.jazreturns.com
This will handle ROI against search engines/search terms/email campaigns/PPC/site referrals
All that key business information that log file stats can't deliver.

This aussie company also has an amazing currency converter that autodetects the visitors country and displays the appropriate currency.

Check it out at http://www.jazconvert.com
