Hi there

We want to change how the page shopa_formatorder.asp displays in the Admin section.

Rather than just displaying Products, Quantity, Unit Price and Total we also want a thumbnail of the product and the product code - as stored in the Products table in the database.

Can you please offer some advice on how to do this?

Thanks guys!
Vanessa

I commissioned BigYellowZone to make some changes similar to the above requirements. We have a few things added:

- payment details moved to the top and colour coded depending on payment status (eg - green is paid and ready to ship, red otherwise)

- displays the product thumbnail and duplicates when multiple are ordered (eg - if two of the same product is ordered, the image displays twice so that it's harder for staff to miss)

- displays a field from the database (similar to the product code) as a reference for packing staff

- displays the remaining stock for each item (to check stock levels as an order is packed to ensure database levels are accurate) and allows the staff member to easily adjust if wrong by pressing a + or - link.

- asks the user to enter a courier tracking number if an order value is over a specified value

- displays an also include section (eg - 'also include these flyers in the order').

BYZ added the required code, so I can't provide much detail on what you would need to add or modify, but thought it might be of interest to know what we had done. Overall, these changes have been well worth it for us; they minimise human error and have made the order packing process much quicker.

ah; yes, I remember doing that.

the solution for the images (even for just a single image) is a bit too involved to mention on the forum because the image isn't available from the existing order items cursor, so you need to go off and do a separate query.

for peter's changes we changed the normal vpasp files to do this (ie so that the changes were made to the existing admin order pages) because their general preferred base-format was closer to the existing vpasp format than it was to our packing-slip.

if doing that you need to be careful because the same display function is used by admin and customers.

or, if you like, you could use our slip addon which shows the thumbnails by default (although you can switch them off by changing config options) -
VPASP Invoice and Packing Slip:

That's not a replacement for the existing admin order-view page; it's an additional link/type; the normal format would still be available too. More blurb on that front is.....

There are 5 versions included in the slip - two for Admin so that you can print your invoices/receipts/slips, and another two for the customer, and another for the supplier emails. Each of these are individually configurable so that you can make each version different, and you can install/use any of these or all of them.

For supplier slip emails (which you can optionally use), it comes with 2 formats; one is the main supplier email template, and the other is an optional file attachment that you can send to the supplier attached to their email. This is so that, for example, you can display the info of the order in the main supplier email, and then have the supplier print off the separate attachment as a slip to put inside the package as an inventory list if your supplier is shipping the items themselves.
