I can click on a random product on the homepage to get more info on that product but am unable to do so with products in the categories when navigating to them. I have to actually click order to get more info. Anyone know how to fix this? It's driving me crazy and will probably drive my customers crazy.

In The Control Panel set

xgenerateshopexdlink=Yes

This should generate a link to extended product description page.
