I'm using v6.5. Within the admin pages there is the facility to click on a column header to sort the products by price, description etc. (shopa_editdisplay.asp)
Is anyone aware of how to implement this into the shop? i.e. on shopdisplayproducts.asp?
I'm aware of xsortproducts and xproductfiltering but this doesn't provide the solution I need i.e. I want people to be able to click on the column headers to sort by that heading.
Many thanks. |

I think this is what you are after.
If you put this code in the shopdisplayproducts.asp file, a user can click on the link and the products will display in price order.
<a href="shopfiltering.asp?sortfield=cprice&sortupdown=ASC">Ascending</a> |
<a href="shopfiltering.asp?sortfield=cprice&sortupdown=DESC">Descending</a>

Many thanks for the quick reply Steve. This does work for me thank you.
To be honest, I would still ideally prefer the same facility as exists within the admin pages. i.e. click on the column header to sort by that header. So if anyone has a solution that would still be of interest.
Best regards.

No problem.
I've put the code at the top and at the bottom of the page.

Hey Steve, Could you share with me the code from the orderby... down to the page 1 of ... excluding the image in the middle.
Basically I need the I would like to add Sort by: a-z I Brand , etc. then add the Next Page button then the page count [ 1,2,3...]
Also could you tell me which page within vpasp I add it to. I would like to add at top and bottom.
Thank you, Donnie www.performancefuel.com/shop |

Steve,
Might you be able to list here or message me the code you used for the ORDER BY menu at the top and bottom of your products pages? I need something exactly like this.
Thanks, Chris

The order by is one of the byz plug ins (116 I think).

BYZ116 does indeed have configurable order-by options (where you specify the poplist description, the argument code, and the corresponding order-by sql clause for each option in a config file), and also has configurable dynamic filters and various other options (like being able to switch between page-number-links and a view-all link), and various other things, and it's the thing that drive's steve's paging/sorting stuff.
Enhanced Paging/Searching for VPASP - BYZ116: http://www.bigyellowkey.com/mysoftware_product_details.asp?prdid=317
demo: http://www.bigyellowzone.com/dev/vpasp70accesswithaddons/products.asp?keyword=of that demo has dynamic filters configured and applied on the left panel (ie you get "narrow-down" links appearing on the left panel when you've done a search)
It's quite a big addon to install, but can do pretty much any kind of search/ordering/filtering, and the way it displays each "chunk" (page number links, sorting poplist etc) is quite easily tweaked. If you run into problems installing it, we can install it for you (if you bought some development points), but bear in mind that it's actually quicker/easier for us to install it ourselves from scratch rather than finishing/correcting an install that's already been partially completed by the site-owner.
