I know how to change the way each random product looks and how much info to make it display.

How do I make the random products format into multiple colomns tho?

and I would like to know how to control the items shown ....... it shows out of stock items .........
can you control it with formulas ??

IE
[cstock]>3
[cname]=widget

?

you can set the column thing from your admin, xfrontpagemaxcolumns. the look is controlled on FormatFrontpageTemplate sub routine on shoprandomproduct.asp file

Through editing the tmp file and the css I got it to look the way I want.

Now, how do I force it to show the products I want it to, and/or make it not display certain products?

Courtesy of Kidd in another thread -

XfrontpagerandomField: point to extra field that you dont use on your products i.e pother2

Xfrontpagerandomvalue: set to anything you want, i.e test

on your product page set the value of pother2 to test

all products that have "test" value on pother2 will be displayed randomly
