Default/normal vpasp doesn't let you use literals as arguments in template-fields, and also it doesn't allow you to use multiple-values for your arguments. In most cases this is fine as it's very rarely needed, but occasionally being able to do one of those things would be very useful indeed.
As an example, say you use multi-ccy, and you want to display a value on your product pages, but the amount is relevant at a site-wide level instead of per-product.
eg you want to put something like this into your template: Shipping Free for orders over [FORMATCURRENCY 12.5]
[DISPLAYBLURB "Type1"]
etc
with normal vpasp you can't do that, but the pending (as-yet unreleased) version of our template-field addon will let you do that.
It'll let you use literal arguments for all template-fields (standard vpasp ones, custom-built ones you've/we've already created, and byz addon ones), and there's also an example where you can effectively use multiple arguments.
Example of multiple arguments:
[shipping_box "{10}{2}{20}{3}{30}{4}{No Limit}"]
which would then turn it into:
Shipping Weight Restrictions 1-10 Items: 2 Kilos 11-20 Items: 3 Kilos 21-30 Items: 4 Kilos 31+ Items: No Limit
This came about because there are some byz addons pending where we'll find being able to use literals as arguments useful/necessary (as well as being able to have multiple arguments).
Anyway; if anyone has been after this logic and wants to try it out then feel free to post a support ticket to let us know, and we'll let you know your options. I'll be posting a follow-up to this note when it gets officially released; for now it's only available on-request; this is a pending update to our BYZ033 addon (extra-template-fields) -
