would it create any other functional problems if I remove the Horizontal Navigation, if not which files I have to edit apart from header and remove references to horonavbar*.*

That's it. Edit your shoppage_header.htm file by removing 1 line of code located between the comments.

Problems? Shouldn't cause any. I have created 1 cart that way per client's request. We put static links in upper right corner and then where the nav bar used to be, we put dropdowns for categories, suppliers, search boxes, etc.
