I expect I am getting this wrong but trying to update products seems very slow.

I go into everyday tasks
Click Bulk Update
Select products
Click on view
Find the item I require by selecting a field from a drop down
selecting a parameter
Typing in a search term

This give me a list of products to update.

I select Edit and update the record with new infomation.

If I then press "Back to Products"

It does not take me to the search list created but takes me back to to a page where all products are displayed but the search term is lost.

I wonder what I am doing wrong.

Can anyone please advise me, thanks John

You do not need to select Edit and update the every record as you can update ccode, cname, cdescription and cprice for all products that displayed on Bulk update page at the same time. Just change all data you want for required products shown on shopa_editdisplaybulk.asp and then click Update Record at the bottom. It will update all products with new data.

However, if you want to update other product fields which are not shown on shopa_editdisplaybulk.asp you cannot do it by using bulk update functionality and in this case you need to click Edit for each product.

An alternative is to export your products, edit the data locally in the data dump file, and then import it back in.

Of course, if you are making category edits, don't forget to run the "convertproducts.asp" tool after the import.

indeed; on that front, the following url might help, as it explains how to do that....
http://www.bigyellowzone.com/support/issue_view.asp?ID=224&CATE=8

and:
http://www.bigyellowzone.com/support/issue_view.asp?ID=442&CATE=8
(which explains how to import tab separated files)

Thanks elammers
I ran convertproducts.asp and got the following report
Products read=58
Products added to prodcategories table=0
Products already in prodcategories table=58
Subcategories added to prodcategories table=0
Subcategories already in prodcategories table=0
Products with bad category=0
When I look in the productcategories table it contains only two records, I have updated more.
I had records already in a db so in access I was able to cut and paste columns in easily.
Its the updating one at a time which seems cumbersome.
