Is there a way to sort the cats in an order that i choose instead of a,b,c e.c.t

You can change the config option:
xsortcategories

to the column name that you want to sort by.

we use "catextra" and populate that with the relevant ordering text string.

note that as it's a text field and not a number field, "100" will come before "2" so you'd need to do it like:
"001-000"
"001-001"
"002-000"
"002-001"
etc

Hi, Ive changed xsortcategories to catextra.


Category 1 i have out 001-000
Category 2 i have out 002-000
Category 3 i have out 003-000

and so on for all 18 catergorys i have then gone back to the site refreshed deleted cookies e.c.t it and nothig has changed.

Please help, thanks.

Hi there,

Are you using 6.08? If not open shopproductsubs.asp and locate all references to:

catSQL=catsql & " order by catdescription"

Change to:

'VP-ASP 6.08 - Order by config option rather than hardcoded
catSQL=catsql & " order by " & getconfig("xsortcategories")
' catSQL=catsql & " order by catdescription"

This should allow you to sort your left column links.
