I want to put the items in my categories in an order other than alpphabetical. I went to my view/edit categories and I was able to put them the order that I wanted, but it won't show up when I refresh. Don't tell me that you can only sort alphabetically?

On these types of issues it is best to look at the options in the admin setup area.

If you login to the admin section, go to setup tab and look for the field xsortcategories. This is the field in the products file that the sorting will be based on. Right now it is set as catdescription which is why it is alphabetic. Set it to whatever field you want. If you have some special order, use one of the user fields and fill it with whatever you need to get the order you want.

I have done that I wrote categoryid so that it would sort it numerically and it doesn't do it.

I believe that this is a character field so you would have to fill out those numbers.

ie 00001
00002
00003
00004
etc.
