1-How and where do I change the background color of the chatagory list?

2-The main catagory page has the catagories listed. The list seems to have 2 column s by default and it lists them left to right. Is there any way to change this order? possibly make it one column so everything is in the middle as a list...

hi there,

1. you should find all your answers in you shop$colors.asp file under Categories

as to your second question:

if you mean that they all appear in a line, then you will have to go into your shop$colors and change the code in there, and also change some of the code in your shopdisplaycategories.asp where it says ' formats 1 category record around line 166. if you are comfortable with html then you should be alright.

if you need any help with this let me know

you want everything centered, right?

<table width="90%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center">
<tr><td align="center">
$ <a href="shopquery.asp?catalogid=[catalogid][add_websesslink]"><img src="[cimageurl]" border="0" width="60" height="60"></a></td></tr>
$ <tr><td align="center"><a href="shopquery.asp?catalogid=[catalogid][add_websesslink]" class="greentext">[cname]</a></td></tr>
$ <tr><td align="center"><br>
$ <strong><font class="greentext">[formatcurrency cprice]</font></strong></td></tr>
$ <tr><td align="center"><a href="shopaddtocart.asp?catalogid=[catalogid]&quantity=1" class="btn">Add to Cart</a></td></tr><br>
</table>

can i confirm this is for the main categories, i.e. the front page. the reason i'm asking is you have an 'add to cart'

It is for the main catagories but only the top one has "Add to cart" buttons. All the rest has sub catagories with links.Those are the pages I want to edit so links go straight down as 1 column.so mine look like this:

Browse by:

All...
Weight...
Shape...
Price...

I do not want to edit the All page but the rest should be edited...

1. Is actually in shop.css file - Look for leftmenumain. This file is in the stylesheets directory off the root for your site.

2. In admin, click on the Set-Up tab and find xcatmaxcolumns variable and set it to 1. You will now only have one column of categories listed.

Both these options are a lot easier and safer than mucking with the code.
