Hello all,
I am pretty green when it comes to ASP.
I simply created a logo to replace the vp-asp logo. I made sure it was the exact same size as the default logo (288x72). When I changed it to the new logo, my home page format would then be all out of place. I tried to copy the original default logo back, but the layout would not correct itself.
Can somebody help me understand what is happening here and how to correct it? |

Hi, try restore the original file and then try again, provided your haven't done too many changes. :)
cheers, jj |

Yes, I have done that repeatedly.
How do I change the logo without changing the page layout? All I am doing is changing the image file to a new name. What if I want a logo that is longer than the 288 default size? |

Hi, I'm assuming you are making the changes to this file "shoppage_header.htm. The line to change is:
<td width="70%"><img src="images/header/hdr_logo.jpg" width="288" height="72"></td>
What I did with mine was to rename your logo to hdr_logo.jpg and it should just work. You can always remove the width and height bits and rely purely on your image size.
Good luck! jj

Hi there, sorry to sound dumb here, what way does your homepage distort whe you change the name of the logo? I have a 300 X 100 logo on my page and it sits the way i want it. if you could possible give a picture link for a before and after, i would gladly help.
also indicate what size you want your logo |

The web site is http://71.117.128.194
Currently, all I did was remove the height and width from the line with the logo image. You should see how the rest of the content has shifted below the header content from where it originally was. |

Hi, it does look really weird! If you put the width and height back, it's all ok? It doesn't make sense. I suspect there's some tags missing somewhere. |

if you view your source code, look at <!-- END SHOPPAGE_HEADER.HTM --> in your code, you will have </table></table></table> around line 236. use the 'find on this page' function in your browser. that isn't supposed to be there. i am no too sure where it is meant to be though, i saved a copy of a vp-asp shopping cart i've just started and i don't see them sitting together.
what i would like you to do is restore the original shoppage_header.htm file, if you want provide a link to the image you want put in and i can put it in for you (at least that way i cansee what goes on

Thank you. I was wondering about those being after the end statement. I will try to track down why they are there after my edit. |

I just looked at the original shoppage_header.htm file. The end of the file is this:
<!-- END SHOPPAGE_HEADER.HTM --> </table></table></table>
But when I open the home page with the original file, </table></table></table> is no longer there after <!-- END SHOPPAGE_HEADER.HTM -->. This must be some asp magic that gets mucked up after my edit through dreamweaver. |

I simply removed </table></table></table> from the shoppage_header.htm file and everything seems to be normal.
Does anybody know why they were in the original file to begin with? |

Ok, I am really going nuts here.
I cannot figure out why simple changes I make in the code using dreamweaver seem to add or remove key pieces that screw up the layout.
This time, I am simply removing the following code in the shoppage_trailer.htm to get rid of the affiliate link.
<tr> <td class=leftmenumain><a href="shopaffadmin.asp"><%=getlang("langaff")%></a></td> </tr>
I looked at the view source of the home page before the change and after the change. After the change, this code was missing
</td> </tr> </table></td>
after this line
<!-- START SHOPPAGE_TRAILER.HTM --> <br>
and my layout was out of wack again.
Somebody please help me understand why this is happening. Is my dreamweaver reacting incorrectly with the ASP pages? |

I think I am starting to understand the source of my problems.
I just opened the shoppage_header.htm in the word html editor. I see a lot of code in there that is not seen in my dreamweaver4.
Does anybody know what I need to do in my dreamweaver4 app to be able to view and manipulate the actual code? What html editors are other people using? |

I just realized my version of dreamweaver is extremely out of date. I am sure that is my problem unless somebody says otherwise.
I will try an upgrade. |
